I used computer tech, and we installed it constantly renovated, large work and hold up the Linksys is durable and reliable. Other brands have problems with firewalls and packet slowdown. Not this.

Setup – Quick and Easy ! I Set this router the other day with the supplied CD Everything went great, by far the easiest setup I have experienced with a router -. and I’ve done a few over the years Our house is only Apple product family. everything is working really well with the new network Very quickly, the router itself is great, but to a considerable extent -… the unit I make replaced look like and how to feel a toy Big improvement video chat with FaceTime, and Netflix streaming properly to the TV is
Use -. After everything is set up and working, then I went to the (Apple) App Store and searched for “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” -. again what two apps I downloaded on my iphone The first was the Cisco Cloud Connect app, which basically provides the user interface in the router case (you can see what is connected, add devices, manage guest access, etc.) The other app that was listed there something called “Block the Bad Stuff” – I got it and took my cloud Login to bind to my network blocking the Bad Stuff is doing just that -. a very simple interface – choose one of three options – 1, 2, or 3 “1” protects against malware, phishing sites and scam sites, “2” (includes everything in 1 and) contributes to the protection of “pornography” and “3” contains 1 & 2 and contributes to the protection of “Non-Family Friendly” site. We set our network to a level “2.” I have passes two sons, ages 9 and 11, and hardly a day when a friend of theirs is not asking for our network get connected with it “Whatever” an online game play, and so I can be sure that nothing is considered inappropriate, while on my network. This is a level of piece of mind that I did not have any network. I told my mom (grandma) about this and they has placed its order for you to be told there was something about them, when the grandchildren are over (especially since they are now older) concerned -.. speeches so now we can also protect you went about it with my mother I realized that I share this story with a wider audience to help others with the same concerns. With a crazy fast network size and all, but, to protect my family and can be a real game changer. . Hope this helps

Purchased replace two EA6500s EA4500s One for two. DHCP, one for non-DHCP on wireless expansion – yes, could have bridge purchased instead of second EAxxxx but prefer matched hardware for admin purposes No speed advantage over EA4500, since none of my installed hardware has latest high-speed wireless hardware. standard. second USB is nice, but not critical. connect some other feature of the near-single tap seems nice, but it seems (have not tried to connect easier just to download and install app) limited to mobile phones with some app. Biggest EA6500 problem was latest firmware (1.1.27.141816). suspect that a problem with the firmware in the event of non-DHCP (192.168.1.2) using as EA6500 was flawless on the factory setting, but shows annoying pop-up message “! Unexpected Error “after admin login configured to a non-DHCP EA6500 with 192.168.1.2 for router access, after all seems somewhat normal. Linksys support was very helpful, advised to factory settings (which is old firmware version), after almost 3 hours on the phone with them back. purchase risk latest technology … You may see error (pretty sure is latest firmware cause! “Unexpected Error”). Bottom line, if you just with a EA6500, you should. well with this product If you have two EA6500s together, before buying in the hope that Linksys released updated firmware problems (hopefully Linksys investigated product team and update problem published report) wait fixed. In my configuration, they work, it’s just an annoyance account at router as admin and see message “! Unexpected Error “. Every time I would buy again both aware of this issue Yes

Summary: A great router if you have a now, and are certainly looking forward to your setup, and the cloud services are optional (after the initial setup) My previous DIR-655 router
    for about 5 years
reviewed. My last router no longer works many years of great service I was in a pickle. I buy a ‘n’ router, the default over 5 years ago (old by computer standards) has been created, or I get the newer (and untested) ‘AC’ standard for more $ $
What convinced me the posts were for the EA4500 v2. My thought was if this thing is basically the EA4500 with support for the new wireless standard, then why not pay an additional $ 40 for the rise of technology? I assumed it would not be faster because I have to g / n, but it turns out the thing smokes my old router (see rates below).
The big plus that Linksys trying push the “app” feature I will let you put like this:. Have you ever wanted to check your Internet connection at home, while you are, say, on the business in a different country? Or have you ever thought, ‘geeze, I forgot to change the parental control “and wanted the porn filter at home from your office
    Yes, I have also not
router for me as The cement foundation of your house?. I guess it could be the most important part of the house, but hopefully I’ll never bother with them again. A bad router (or cement job) is one that requires attention after initial setup. Hopefully the first and last time that I was looking at my router EA6500 screen a few days ago when I took it out of the box.
Basically the programs (“apps”) that are accessed through the registry for its cloud service (free) is an attempt to Macintosh, the children have to find trendy these days. Ea6500 MUST connect your Linksys for the initial setup, but after that you can choose not to a cloud account, I wanted to do to create.
warned that as a Comcast customer I was working on the latest firmware for the router to update work, something about hybrid use IPv6. This is ridiculous, the establishment of a router should be simple. Although not technically difficult, it was still a pain and frustrating because I could manually set up the connection itself if given the opportunity, sometimes these automated setups are more trouble. I can imagine, as time passes, this is no longer a problem as latest firmware ships. This is why I do not subtract stars.
Granted, I only had this. for a few days, but there was no dropped connections so far I usually wait longer to write reviews, but I wanted to let people know who is in my position. This is a great router
    Pros:
    + Very fast wireless transfer rates (‘g’ = 4.0mb/sec from 1.9mb/sec, ‘n’ = 14 mb / sec from 7 mb / sec). Note that I am missing dual-channel customers.
+ Very fast wired tx rate (Gigabit Ethernet with around 75 mb / sec to the DIR-655 at around 30 mb / sec in comparison) townhome
+ Excellent range no room (in my 3-level I do not get signal)
+ Much smaller than the picture makes it look. . Slim design
+ Linksys name to back the product
+ Great attention to detail. For example, you can turn off the blinking lights on the router so that my living room does not look like a disco. Cool
    Cons: I-
had to update the firmware to set up the router: most complicated router setup since my 802.11a routers
-Need internet access to Linksys, set up the router.
    – ‘AC’ standard is not available everywhere yet. I have no way to test for speed and Cnet and others have tried to test this product yet rated
And the apps for me are neither negative nor positive;. They are there when
EDIT: 10/14/12 The router is still working great and have no problems so far. A friend reminded me that I forgot to include another frivolous feature: the ‘Simple Tap’ card. It allows you to add a compatible phone to your network without typing a password. Press a button on the router, swipe the card on your phone, and you’re connected. Also I do not think this feature offers no real comfort (What’s so hard about typing in a password?) And you have to wonder how much to add all these silly functions to the price of the router? Anyway, you can disable all of them, and I’m sure someone somewhere will find the Simple Tap and cloud functions useful.
