I have this router now an already quite some time and it was in good working order, I had it set up exactly how I wanted it. I absolutely loved this router.
Unfortunately all be changed on 26/06/2012, when Cisco took it upon himself, basically force an installation of the new firmware that enables their Cisco Cloud Connect service. My system is set to not automatically update and yet the router is inactive, and after a reboot, this new firmware update from Cisco obtained without my approval. This service makes it an external log server to access your router settings. There was no way of Cisco, either given or not the cloud, and we were not informed that this firmware update would be installed without our knowledge or desire for that matter. may be removed obviously
The new firmware if you Cisco technical support, but they will call to inform you that the firmware on your router no longer supported (the router is only 3 months old, so basically it in the original devastated software and maintain support if you have it) use.
The new firmware is very buggy and does my internet connectin is below if it is not unique. You no longer have direct access to the router and from your own network. I believe that this is a potential security risk.
Unfortunately, the new GUI is unusual and not intuitive at all.
If you want to buy this router as a set it and forget device in order. If you are an advanced user, look elsewhere, as dumbing down to create the interface a security risk and banning you from actually connecting to your router in any meaningful way from your own network if you are first in the Cisco servers with your E-mail address and password.
This firmware to current users of this equipment has been met without our knowledge or consent, made me very skeptical of future Cisco endeavored for the house. If you want an extended home network or look for greater flexibility in things like port forwarding and other advanced options, elsewhere. . This new mandatory firmware is buggy and risky to be any good use.

     5.0 out of 5 stars giant leap from a D-Link DIR-655 , 11 April 2012
    style=”margin-bottom:0.5em;”>

    By
    target = G. Haney (Florida) –

    style=”clear:both;”/>

This review ( What is it )
review is from: Linksys EA4500 App Enabled N900 Dual-Band Wireless-N Router with Gigabit and USB (Personal Computers)

As mentioned above, I upgraded from a D-Link DIR-655 router that was a good piece of kit and did his job well, but the EA4500 is more than an incremental improvement.
    SET UP
I’m pretty tech savvy, so I’m spoiled not afraid of a challenge, but this thing like an AOL user was and just get the job done.
It is an extremely easy to set up. It smells for your Internet connection, it is, and basically gets comfortable and running with very little need for anything from you. Heck, I used the same SSID as my previous router and many devices (like my Tivo, iPhones and MacBooks) associated with it, as it was not a change router. If it were not for a pain-in-the-butt webcam, I’d completely stopped within 15 minutes. The other 4 hours were purely the fault of my Foscam (and only to the installation of this device based)
Back to comparisons with my DIR-655:
SPEED / FLOW – by either the router app’s speed Tester built (very cool, like the automatic firmware upgrade option, if desired) or speedtest.net, I went from something like 25 to 10 and an average of over 25 Mbps to 43 Mbps. Finally, the efficient use of my advertised Verizon FiOS connection
RANGE – Our house is about 1600 square feet, but it was built in 1942, which means there gypsum and other Frankenstein components abound. My DIR-655 was barely so (router is in the front) in the middle and back of the house with a pending connection, so that my wife (who is usually in the middle or behind and lost connection) was sometimes frustrated. Based on my speed tests on their computers in other parts of the house, I do not think they will curse our network more. So far, so good. Also, cursed (just in terms of structure) Foscam webacam shows a much better video feed both in house and via remote view on port forwarding. That was an unexpected bonus
SOFTWARE -. Cisco / Linksys is definitely try to make it an easy / pleasant experience to manage the router, but I (and I’m sure many others who would use a piece of kit like this) is not line level on the shiny top app go. So I was glad to see that I jump in fact a much more detailed device management interface, just as you would see with the DIR-655 or other routers. I’m still getting used to the different menus, but it looks like almost everything is there. I have a hard time finding the status / MAC address / etc. all connected devices (such that I had to use a separate IP Sniffer when setting up the webcam), but I must believe that it is out there somewhere!
Overall it was absolutely money well spent to move up to this device. Will try to remember to follow after I’ve used it for a few months.

Netgear on the release of R6300 on the 802.11ac spec VHT base which promises gigabit wireless speeds, the wireless HD video streaming a reality. (See the comments for a tutorial on the 802.11n specification and all business Nxxx.)
What does that mean for someone looking for a new router that?
It means that the phrase “top of the line router” just redefined, and the answer of which is to select router simply a little more complicated.
However, I would still recommend the WNDR4500, not because (a) The 802.11ac spec judgment, (b) there are no adapters (all benefits, use the extra bandwidth you remember the cost of high bandwidth is not only on the router – you have too much money to spend on each device adapter to) to get maximum benefits, and most importantly (c) when an early adopter, whose Pavlovian response just kicked in, do you really the time / inclination, a beta tester for a new implementation to be? . (Wait for a couple of firmware updates tends to blow do wonders for the mind)
    original reviewed
    # # # # # # # # # # #

I recently had a chance to compare the Netgear WNDR4500 , and the Cisco EA4500 -. both top of the line consumer grade routers that are packed with the latest features
Since there is very little difference in their feature sets, I’ll try and answer a more important question: What router
the better choice as the centerpiece of a home network is
Coming soon: The WNDR4500 was the clear winner for me – the furthest point of use from my router, through multiple walls and floors, not only a stronger signal provided, but also provided twice the throughput as the EA4500
    Trial: # # # # # # # #
Measure (1) I inSSIDer signal strength on my receiver and iPerf to measure the network throughput.
    (2) To clean. throughput on the router I wired the server host to my router on and off all other network hosts, but my test wireless client
    (3) I tested the 2.4-GHz band, because (a) it is the most important link in our house, and (b) it is the biggest challenge for each router (4) I took measurements at 3 locations
    – (. my entertainment center) right next to my router, at the furthest point (my fitness area), and at a midpoint
Note that for the throughput measurements, I did not use speedtest.net – such measurements of factors outside the control of the router can be distorted (for example, a congested neighborhood backbone). Likewise, I have not run copy files – how it can be distorted by NAS / drive power
    test results.
    # # # # # # # # #

The two measures are of interest.
    (1) the throughput – ie pump how many bits of this router actively measured by our network here in Mbps (million bits per second)
The higher the rate, the better your network experience, especially when streaming video content
the near further and farthest positions:
    – Cisco AE4500 delivered throughput in Mbps of 36.5 /. 20.9/9.5
    – delivered the WNDR4500 throughput in Mbps 27.2/24.4/20.1
    (2) the received signal strength indicator (RSSI), which is a measure of the signal strength at the receiver.
The higher the RSSI, the stronger your signal, and so the better the chances that you will be able to contents of your router. Note that these are negative numbers, so -58 is actually a stronger signal than -65
the near further and farthest positions.:
    – The Cisco AE4500 comes RSSIs of -. 48/-58/-65 or
-. RSSIs delivered the WNDR4500 the -46/-53/-58 or
In my tests, if the WNDR4500 nearly constant rate over the extent of our home (24 Mbps average) and his strong RSSI shows also at the furthest point in our home, was instrumental in the surrender our neighbor is pretty aggressive router

    other thoughts.
    # # # # # # # # # # #
1 You can not go wrong with either router, when it comes to properties
addition to the fastest rating -. 450 Mbps on both the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz band, you get DHCP address reservation, a stateful packet inspection firewall, Dynamic DNS configuration, guest networks, port forwarding and triggering (AE4500 interface is better) QoS configuration, etc.
2 The vertical form factor of the WNDR4500 takes very little space on your desk.
3 While the Web interfaces of the two routers are used, the WNDR4500 is a little better because of how it … Read more

review is from: Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 – 2PC/1User (Disc Version) (DVD-ROM)

I have the ability to Office 2010 beta for a few months now and now that I have. the full, final, edition, see Using I can say that this is a very worthwhile upgrade First things first, I’m not a techie. I am someone, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is used, on a very regular basis, who really liked thought some of the changes in Office 2007 but who, some things can be optimized necessary so that, if given the opportunity for the beta version I on it jumped and have not been disappointed. Office 2010, Office 2007 what Windows 7 was to Vista, that is, there are not many breakthrough drastically different features, but a lot of polishing and cleanup to make it easier and more efficient. Overall, the program seems to run faster, incorporates many of the most commonly used options and makes them accessible (eliminating many dialog boxes and tabs) and allows for more customization.
At first glance it looks very much like its predecessor, is the tape, and it is now also found on OneNote. There are many websites that offer. Give you a play-by-play on all the features available in this new version, so I’m just going to mention some of the biggest improvements that I’ve seen,
    1) The biggest change is the addition of web applications. It can not. A true direct competitor to Google Docs, but it allows for easier sharing of documents, as well as your documents more accessible
    2) The ribbon is back and it now “to see backstage.” and the “File” option and a new feature called Backstage view contains the most commonly used actions in one place (yay! no more dialog boxes with tabs). You get the usual open, save, and print, but you also get several templates for new documents, print layouts and ways to share your work, all without dialog boxes and tabs, everything is much more accessible.
3 is another new) that the ribbon is now customizable so you can organize it according to your needs.
    4) There is a Paste Preview which you switch between paste options so that you can ensure that your work can be properly formatted.
    changes in PowerPoint.
You can now video directly on PowerPoint. You can trim a video, add effects, transitions, and even triggers for animations for the presentation. Another new feature is that you can add effects and edit images without the need for third party software.
    changes in Word.
A nifty new feature in Word will show as “Navigation pane,” which replaces the old document. It includes minor changes in design, large changes in productivity and ease of use. It allows you to quickly rearrange the document. Take for example a document with several headings / sections. The navigation pane contains a list of all headings. The headings are live, so you can drag up or down to reorder the document. It also contains most of the features. As in the “Find” dialog box will be available, but now they are all visible so you do not have to dig through multiple menus, the option you need

    changes in Excel.
Most changes in Excel deal with very large data sets. There is a new PowerPivot add-in which works great if you are dealing with a very large amount of data that does not fit into an Excel spreadsheet. PowerPivot pulls the data from multiple sources (several Excel spreadsheets for instance) to analyze.
    changes in Outlook.
It’s a band, and this makes for a huge improvement. You can turn long email threads into conversations so that you can find information from a specific participant without having to read all the threads. You can also filter out or ignore entire threads on a particular subject, including future emails. Be careful though, you can unknowingly eliminate important future market of e-mails, because they have the same subject title as a conversation you ignored in the past
    Summary:.
Overall this is a well planned and executed upgrade that essentially takes all the promises of Office 2007 and makes them a reality. Yes, some things differently, and it takes some getting used to, but when you improve efficiency, you agree that the changes are mostly for the positive will recognize.

I come from old versions of these applications I. ashamed to say, I was still a version of Word 2002 on one of my computers … Yikes, I have excellent with Mozilla (and free) Thunderbird client for many years
. So the standout here for me is Outlook . I honestly can not imagine how I ever effectively e-mail before using. If you’ve ever tried to configure Thunderbird for gmail access via POP or IMAP, it is a multistep process (by multi, I mean like 22 steps) to come to the end. Complete with re-mapping ports changing TLS and server configurations, the whole thing. I was always that it works, after all, and once it’s set up, it just does it. You only had through this process go immediately. But since I do OS re-installs somewhat regularly, I had to go through this Thunderbird “initialization” process, many, many times.
So I invite the Office 2010 beta. (The complete beta, on your hdd, not the virtualization beta which was garbage and took forever to load installed)
He asks me some pointed questions about my gmail account Literally like 2 questions:.. forgot my email address and password. It would have another question or two, but I do not think so. Outlook basically configured immediately after I entered my information, no port mapping or any of these other things. It just worked and immediately started synchronizing my folder. This was at and of itself impressive, but the conversation was very good feature where Outlook keeps threaded replies under one conversation heading It just streamlines things and makes it much better. (Note:. I have discovered that the conversation feature “confused” a lot of users, it is therefore disabled in the final product Go to your view section of your tape and click the box “Show as conversations” to activate again .. I do not understand really, how this could be confusing, but ok. Just turn it on, any logic-minded person will like it.)
The Search option is invaluable as well. It does look like an index-able and starts again results as you type. I had a product that to me was not successful, but that also had a 3 year warranty, which was just before the expiration date. I typed in the name of the product and outlook finds all relevant messages in my Gmail account from 32 months … immediately. (Actually, before I even finished typing its name). Thunderbird has replicated this functionality in any meaningful way, do not close well. Normally I would try through pages and pages of e-mails, the one I needed to find ridges. This little feature has saved me so much time, I can not even tell and I stumbled, which makes it even better, you can do anything in this box:.. E-mail addresses, names, words that appear only in the subject or body, he finds it all instantly. how to write. So the big deal here
something I have not mentioned, is the so-called ribbon interface. This is the fantasy menu system at the top of the application. So, where would you have in the rule works static menu buttons as any browser / application, the band options change based on which category you click. This is cool and has been standardized quite well between applications. Each application has obviously different needs for the big headlines, but the functionality is the same. Outlook is compared with a visually impressive app to Thunderbird. Even my wife noticed something was different when she saw it on my screen for the first time. (I had yet Thunderbird installed on your computer.) Thunderbird looks absolutely midieval in comparison. After months of using the Office 2010 beta, I was on my wife’s computer and loaded up Thunderbird., the difference is large.
Although I have never used Outlook 2007, I’ve read, this is a major upgrade over in every respect them, and no question about Outlook 2003. I also loved the new calendar system, a lot better than what I previously
with Thunderbird, which was for a long time an extra plugin called Sunbird. The other important my Comment by Word 2010. This is still the standard by considering the other word processors. Its crazy functionality has and can do things that I will probably never do, ever a necessity. This seems more of several, tiny optimizations that . visible after a few weeks of use are Word 2007 also had the ribbon UI, but it was refined Word 2010, search / navigation functionality has been improved dramatically. This is especially handy for long / multi-page documents all the functions you in ever one. word processing program could want is here and it’s a nice app as something like Google Docs or OpenOffice compared. Not picking on them or something, because obviously you want more for a paid app vs. free one get to have. I WordPerfect at work, and I can not bear it, to use it in comparison. Not sure why, but no one can be as much as Microsoft Word will touch.

Even with the negative reviews I decided to buy this product because I like yesterday had to have. Someone had mentioned the bad reviews always an error message on the 32-bit version error occur during installation. Well the same thing happened was to me and the problem is that with my new computer, there was already a trial of the product on the computer, so I uninstall the version that came with the computer when I went to install this product, I had no problem as hopefully this will help someone who comes across the same problem. The product works perfectly and installs great. Hope this is helpful.

review is from: D-Link Whole Home Router 1000, Wireless-N (DIR-645) (Personal Computers)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine ™ Program span class = “tiny nowrap”> ( What is it? )

This is my review of the D-Link Whole Home Router 1000, Wireless N Router (DIR-645). I will make a comparison with my D-Link DIR-655 that currently works well as my primary wireless router, and has for more than two years.
I consider the DIR-655 to Be
one of the best router for wired or wireless networking. I was pleasantly surprised that the DIR-645 was on par with many features, better in some missing in others. The router management for this DIR-645 is almost identical to the DIR-655. A few minor changes, but overall the same features, functions and controls. As a stand-alone wireless router, it worked flawlessly. I configured manually (installer diskless ) via a Web browser, changed the router’s IP address, range and other settings. It took less than 10 minutes to complete the setup from unboxing to having a functional wireless router. With the hard drive took a little longer (something more than 15 minutes), but it took me Tested almost the same state as my manual configuration, plus a few minor improvements to the router setting. The disk setup is user friendly and works to set up the router. I have other functions (QoS engine, advanced firewall, routing, WISH, etc.) for a few days only, but they all seemed to work just as well as the DIR-655.
to transfer data when hard-wired (using Cat 5e Network Cables ) was almost identical between the two units. I will not get into that much more.
Next I tested the wireless feature of the DIR-645. I have my own DIR-655 wireless router as the main (with the off), and with the DIR-645 and another DIR-655 for comparison, and configured these two as wireless access points. This is a relatively simple change of attitude, but I recommend it if you are technically savvy. As router functions are handled by a single router before the test router, the wireless connections I can clean and test separately from the router functions. Both routers over Cat5e cables (for gigabit connectivity). Both routers are on the main floor of the house, about three meters placed apart on the same shelf (to simulate the same conditions). I enabled 802.11 mixed mode (g, n), WPA2 mode on channel 6, transmission rate to “best” set and channel width at Auto 20/40 MHz (to test both n and g connections)
    I
multiple computers to test these units. 1) WinXP Pro Dell X1 laptop with Intel internal 802.11g wifi , 2) the same laptop with a D-Link DWA-160 Extreme N PCI Adapter, 3) Macbook Pro 17 – inch with airport, 4) Dell Inspiron about D-Link DWA-140 (where I have my films), and 5) on a IBM Thinkpad T43 .. I bypassed the installer disk for the computer and has a manual configuration. I searched the available wireless network, see the router for both wireless “AP” units, the password for network security (a definite must-do in San Francisco) entered SSID, and I was connected wirelessly. All connected well and I get at least 24 Mbps speed in the farthest corners of my house, and well over 80 Mbps speed anywhere on the same floor as the router (with WinXP Pro Wireless connection setting). With large video files () 150 MB to 2 GB in size I have about 10 MB / s data transfer, Wireless-N (at Auto 20/40 MHz and mixed g+ n wireless). With the DIR-655 I got about 8 MB / s, but that is with mixed g+ n wireless connection. When the DIR-655 was set to wireless n only, he got up to speed with the DIR-645. Obviously, I have a go long way with the exam, but I am pleased to see me, that this DIR-645 can perform just as well as my DIR-655.
When I brought my laptop upstairs, the signal for this DIR-645 was also strongly (if not slightly more) than the DIR-655. Even the theoretical speed was calculated by WinXP faster when connected to this DIR-645 as the DIR-655. these theoretical calculations of the computers.
Both Wireless routers streamed DVD quality videos without any problems. However this is a big difference in performance when streaming HD video (1080 at 12 + Mbps video rate), and I give it to the DIR-655 for power. When streaming HD video DIR-645 on a computer in the living room, it was a little stuttering with this DIR-645, which could not be seen with the DIR-655. I’m not really sure why this was the case, since the had a faster raw data transfer rate.
conclusion is that the device (the DIR-645) is equal to or better than the classical theoretical wireless connectivity DIR-655. I sat in my living room (about 100 feet and a few walls from the wireless router). This was true for a Macbook Pro laptop, a Dell X1 laptop and an IBM Thinkpad. download and upload rates were similar when pure than Wireless-G or Wireless-G + N. In mixed mode (N ) is connected, this seemed DIR-645 to perform better. The DIR-655 Wireless-G fell on throughput in mixed mode, while this seemed DIR-645 … Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine ™ Program ( What’s this? )

Before we start with this, we used a DIR-655 and had constant problems Wireless dropping and speed slow downs. Something had to be continuously restarts. How to solve the problem? Get the DIR-645. This small cylinder can treat all our equipment is not needed to be rebooted once and we now the full extent of our internet speed. A great thing is that it is actually a power button and a refresh button, so no more pulling out and reinserting cables. It is sleek and fits well. No twisty antennas and not clogged WiFi. We connected a PS3, XBOX, DirecTV and a wired Ethernet bridge with him directly. We also have 2 Macs with WiFi plus 3 phones. never lags, never freezes and never needs rebooting. Top of the line router and am very . happy with him

This review ( What is it )
This review is from: D-Link Whole Home Router 1000, Wireless-N (DIR-645) (Personal Computers)

I have a D-linker since its inception , or as long as I can remember. My last wireless router is the DIR-655, which has a loyal wireless router for about 4 years. Well, we live in an old house, plus all of the computers in a back house / office, so there is always a link to the front of the house has never been easy. Also walls are built thick and well, so the wireless signal was received, of course, too much weight on the rest of the house. Even after I a WLAN Repeater bought, it was not the best Okay HERE COMES THE DIR -.!. 645
not the signal to the places that the DIR-655 and could not be transferred to achieve, but the direct connection between the DIR-645 the wireless repeater, AMAZING. We have whole house coverage and signal strength they are again,
AMAZING! The router continues with the CD that is included, no manual settings at all. it worked out of the box. Now the Netflix movie streaming is blazing fast in the front house where the TV is!
Thanks D-Link for getting the best award to promote to your customers and not the bottom line (IE) bit as if the parts and technology Mist .
