I have Epson printer for about 10 years ago. You can brilliant photo quality prints for years, but can also be painful frustrating. Time will tell how this new printer fits on that continuum.
That thing is huge. It takes almost twice as much real estate as my Brother 2270 laser. The duplexer hanging from the back adds about 4 inches in depth.
It has many surprising bells and whistles. Whether you everything about you. More on that later.
Wireless setup was the best thing I’ve ever seen. Turn it on realizes it the network. Enter your SSID directly on the plate, and you’re done. Then setup went on both XP and W7 machine without incident.
color printing by Epson is excellent. It makes Dye Sub printers just about obsolete. These’Claria “inks are dye, but should have great UV resistance. I leave a photo in the sun and let you know in 20 years.
Initial tests on photo printing are astounding. I use Kirkland Glossy Photo paper, best photo print mode, high-speed off. I compared it with a print (same photo) from Winkflash on Fuji paper. It was as sharp or sharper. The blacks are blacker with more pop. It could be a little more saturation in the yellow and magenta. But without any tweaking, the profile is pretty much dead on.
I did not say anything bad yet. What is not to like?
The only negative so specifically for this printer far is the paper tray. seems flimsy and complex. seems to be no way to manually feed paper, card stock is unlikely to work. Even if you have a couple of leaves in full size you want to run photo paper, replace the paper. Or 1 sheet more than you need to put on top of your regular stock. Otherwise it will be the last one, and double feed grab, with catastrophic consequences.
My general beef with Epson is their notorious ink costs. Epson has a lot of time and money in the courts to try to make sure you can only buy their ink cartridges, issued with limited success. Instead sell at competitive prices, they would be more likely to sue.’s say for me as the Ford, you can only buy Ford gasoline. If You
make a lot of pressure, you can spend a lot of ink. However, I’ve found a great source inksupply.com that alleviate his pain.
If you can not plug the colors of the regular head . you do not clean the print head just for you. They could pop out for easy cleaning and replacement, if they wanted to. A basic head cleaning cycle wastes a lot of ink and does not always work. This is if you have 2 on the lookout for the £ start to slide. Hopefully this dye inks are less likely to clog due to their smaller particle size.
Now for all those functions. You have really developed this printer as “family friendly.” They do not seem to sell well, though
Duplex:.. Quite handy if you do a lot of printing plain text, it’s cool how it prints the top, then slurps up the page to do the other side
scanner. Scanner is very accurate, and I’ve always liked the Epson Scan software is powerful, but you can just mess with the settings, or just pop in and do a quick scan on your desktop
Copier:… really impressive copies . I could not distinguish between a print and a copy of the printout Try copying something with colored tape or something similar to the original, you think you can peel the tape from the copy
SD card slot.. Printing without a computer . I would never want to do that, but you can
Print from your smart phone… There’s an app for it on the Android app reviews are mixed so far I have not tried it yet, but it is useful be, I’m sure now
    stuff for the family.
CD printing: That could come in handy if your distribution wedding photos or something, you can also get a case for your bootleg REM CD.
coloring book. build Strange in a printer, rather than the software it only from an SD card or the scanner, but it will be fun for the kids
lines and graphics… Make your own notebook paper and graph paper Why no built in 3 holes
Card:.?. Also, it seems this would be a software feature, but it’s firmware in the printer
I’m sure there are more features too numerous to say to. “br /> I can not give 5 stars yet, until we, as seen tariffs over time. But the technology and design firm appear (if a little weird, as indicated). This printer has a lot, and it does very well.
I’m going to post some photos, and if I find a way to make this review even longer, I will be at a later date .

Edit 10/22/11: I’ve done a few more full-size photo prints I’m nearly 2 colors Ohhh But the sweet color reproduction I have worked with a collage of some old photos… the copier function. A photo has a red ink stamp. Another has a pin hole. For a second I thought the copy had a hole in it! The red ink mark looks like someone just stole a pen over it .. . Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars good upgrade from HP – Apple IOS users READ , 11 September 2011

    TRUE AirPrint compatibility:
bought this printer today. So far so GREAT! Opened the box to find a yellow sheet titled: “Attention AirPrint Users”. It then explains that it AirPrint function installs the latest firmware available from Epson website. My first thought was “WOW”, I thought only HP printers had this capability. So OK, I’ll bite. I installed the printer on MAC OSX Lion without problems. Flawless. So the firmware upgrade. This part always makes me a little nervous, but the Epson step-by-step instructions were very clear. Firmware upgrade will take about 10-15 minutes and remember DO NOT turn off or disconnect during this process. Once the firmware has been updated, I went to an e-mail on my iPhone, clicked the AirPrint button, then click Print and EPSON Airtisan shows 730, together with a selector switch for the number of copies, and single / double sided (on / off ). I hit Print and sure enough out comes my complete email. I then check Safari and iBooks and yes, it will print of the native as well. No EPSON or third party app required. So, you ask, what’s the big deal? Well, the thing is that nowhere on the Epson website or on the packaging does it mention printing compatibility with AirPrint. I even went to Apple’s official list of AirPrint printers and it is not here yet either listed, only HP.
    Artisan 725 VS 730
I was looking at the Artisan 725 and could not find much product information on the differences on this newer model. Here’s what I came up with so far:
1 Very slightly higher print speeds, but not enough to notice for everyone.
2 Difference in the droplet size. Fixture on the 725, 5 sizes on the 730th
3 Front panel. 725 has to keep a bit of a clunky button layout / release panel at an angle. The 730 puts an end to that and replaced it with a nice, smooth friction style.
4 Look. 725 everything is black. 730 has. Some dark blue accents around the top
I printed a few pages and a few photos. So far, faster than my old HP C6380 and better quality.
Nice, high resolution at much higher speeds than my old HP as well.
I’ll update this review as I get more time on this printer. But until then it is two thumbs up.

Advisory: I do not have any function of the printer. I will update review when I have tested printing from an SD card and a USB drive. I do not think Smart Phone have not test AirPrint function .. Not sure if I will try the CD printing function
    * Set-up was a piece of cake I had the printer interface for setting up the wireless, since I could not find the right size USB cable, but my network printer without a problem I.. have a Netgear router and Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista.) beginning the password was something like a text message on my phone, but I had no problems. I was printing within 30 minutes after I started opening the box. ‘ br /> * Black text printing looks good .. Very fast
    * scanner worked well;.! problems * photos were amazing
The printer uses 6 ink cartridges, probably printed for the vibrant colors I. 3 photos right after set-up with photo paper. A photo was of a low-resolution file. All were great.
    * paper tray can hold both plain paper and photo paper. You do not need to change the paper from
    * Depending on your needs, this printer might be a bit bulky, it weighs more than 20 lbs so fits not know where my other printer was but it is for light commercial use, such as a home business… aligned, so bulk / wgt.’s probably appropriate for this class.
    * Printed at all if one of the cartridges is empty. This to me is one of the serious disadvantages of Epson printers. My other Epson is the same way and it’s really uncomfortable because I text a lot more pressure than color.
    * Unless you high quality color prints or other color materials must do as brochures, six ink cartridges is hard on the budget. But if money is no object and you want the be able to print your photos if you want, then this printer is top-drawer.
    * tray is slightly plastic, flimsy feel. You must be very careful when using it out or in.
    * No faxing.’s no problem for me, but maybe for some.
I’ll update this review when I have had the printer for a few months and have tested the SD & USB features.
