Saving your way to a better (?) life It could be good to start this book from the author’s idea of “a better life”. I agree that “things” do not create happiness. But what does? Good discounts and BOGOF (buy one get one free) coupons? The author states that the reason she wrote this book is because she “talks to many people on a daily basis that are having financial problems” (I think, we all do). So in her book she promises “to teach”:1. Techniques to earn extra money;2. Ways to save on your everyday purchases and to get the best deals; and3. Strategies for simply getting better at handling your money overall! What I found in this book was:1. Open a Savings account, think about your retirement all the time, search for lost (unclaimed) money on the net and/or get an extra job.2. Use all sorts of coupons, promotions and free samples.3. Snowball your debts (very clear explanation of the “debt-snowball method” can be found on Wikipedia (Debt snowball method)…

Weak economy… Expiration of Bush tax cuts…. What better time for a resource to help families get more out of their budget! Saving Your Way to a Better Life is an excellent resource loaded with great information and ideas to help begin saving money if you are at a beginner level or save more money if you have already started a plan for better managing your money. The author explains financial matters in easy to understand terms. At the end of the book, I was motivated to begin applying some of the information immediately!I can’t imagine anyone that is not thinking about how to get more out of their budget these days, with the economy still struggling and no hope that America’s leaders will take meaningful action to balance the budget and stop increasing the debt ceiling. If you are looking for ways to improve your personal financial situation, this is the resource for you… and at such an affordable price point. The value of what you are getting for the price is incredible.
